Formulated with modern sports science and Kung Fu movements, the workout contains sections of aerobic and anaerobic exercises which works the cardiovascular performance, high intensity anaerobic performance, flexibility and strength over the full range of motion and isometric core strength. Exercisers are usually doing a specialized workout which either focus solely on aerobic endurance (ie. Marathon runners), building muscle mass (ie. Weights lifting in the gym) or flexibility (ie. yoga & pilates). The Kung Fu boot camp is different in a way it incorporates just the right amount from every area of fitness development. Training your body in all its functional parameters, the workout session is like a fitness multivitamin.
The golden rule of spiking metabolism is doing a diversity of exercises in succession with little or no rest. This way, the body and mind is worked to its full potential to adapt to different areas of fitness, resulting in high fat burn during the workout. As muscle groups and the cardiovascular system is worked in both aerobic and anaerobic areas, so replenishing and growing stronger muscles after the workout will use up more calories; more than a specialized workout on isolated parts of the body.
1) They are complex muscle group movements. Kung Fu is an activity which involves more full body muscle involvement than isolated muscle strength. Many modern exercisers are looking for ways to get more full-body involvement in their weight resistance training and bodyweight aerobics, but somehow the exercises still do not work out as many parts of the body as they want.
There are many benefits of complex exercises. A very attractive reason is the increased burn when the heart has to work harder to pump more blood to more muscle groups. The other benefit is that your body will be more balanced and coordinated when you do complex exercises. Your body will not develop weight proportions which make you hard to balance yourself when doing agile movements, unlike a specialized bodybuilder who mainly does exercises to build muscle bulk.
There are some less known, but also equally attractive reasons to do complex movements. As the exercises will build a lean and proportionate body instead of concentrated bulky muscles, they are definitely more suitable for female exercisers who do not wish to develop the body of a 'She-Hulk'.
Also, the oxidative stress and muscle damage to the body is spread out, so you will be able to recover sooner than if you do isolated exercises.
2) Functional Strength Most people in the exercise corner do exercises which aim to either prepare them for the beach or prepare them for their marathon. But the exercises hardly convert into more efficiency in daily life activities which involves lifting, maneuvering in tight spaces, twisting, hitting with objects and other hands on work.
Including Kung Fu movements and conditioning will not only allow you to be more efficient at daily physical activities, it also improves your survival rate in a self-defense situation as it also builds your combat functionality.
People with better functional strength do things quicker, better, with more confidence; and are less prone to injuries. They are definitely more welcome in the family and workplace.
For complete beginners in Kung Fu or any martial art, our Kung Fu boot camp will introduce you to simple movements in Kung Fu for your mind and body to get used to a new movement pattern. These movements will involve waist twisting and body weight placement, which is key to performance in the Kung Fu discipline. Physical capacity to handle greater strength and stress will allow you to pick up physically demanding techniques faster. It will also help you gain significant advantage over other combatants who have lesser physical fitness.
For current martial artists, the endurance and greater strength and control from the workout can be very useful in complimenting your performance.
Qigong breathing exercises are an interesting part of this workout. Qigong breathing techniques allow the person to improve both respiratory and circulatory efficiency. During the workout, there will be more oxygen and blood supply to the various body parts involved, thus reducing fatigue while preventing cramps and sprains.
After the workout, the increased flow of water, air and nutrition to the muscle groups will aid in post-workout recovery. Many casual exercisers suffer from reduced immunity after sessions, the effect of qigong will prevent a dip in immunity. The increased flow of nourishment will also prevent oxidative stress.
